Arrival: How language shapes our reality
I watched Arrival last year and was totally floored by it. The beauty of arrival undoubtedly lies in it's screenplay and execution. It was far more philosophical than I expected, but anyways here is how Arrival shows us that Language has a huge role in shaping our reality.

People hate Batman vs Superman for reasons I still fail to understand. After going through numerous reviews and rants, I think the reason as to why Batman vs Superman didn't appeal to many was because of EXPECTATIONS.

Wendy's dead cat mystery solved | MINDHUNTER |

The first season of 'Mindhunter' has this weird underlying subplot surrounding Wendy, a dead stray cat and tune. Well trust me it's weirder than it already sounds. Fortunately for us, Anna Torv, who plays Wendy Carr might have solved the mystery for us.

A huge shoutout to the redittor Mrfrett.

Cockran is a joke! He would say and do anything to win!
Furhmann, how does somebody like you sleep at night
Cuba was a horrible OJ
The casting and makeup department in this series did an excellent job except for Cuba Gooding as OJ. He doesn't look anything like OJ!
Christopher Darden - a man with integrity
The judge was the same aside from the accent 😂
In America, you have a Chinese judge that doesn’t know how to do crime a Chinese American and the African-American give me a break. They’re not even native Americans. That’s why OJ walk Free.
This was a Circus
cuba playing OJ might be like the biggest miscast i could think of but ill give him he did a good job considering that
I wonder how the Goldman and Brown family felt about this.
Cuba Gooding Jr was way off on his protroyal of OJ. OJ was charming and smiling in public.
johnnie cockaroach cohcran made everything about race.
Cuba is a good actor, but he never disappears into OJ’s role like everyone else does to their counterparts
Every time Ito says Mr DARDEN Mr DARDEN I laugh out loud!!! That judge was so weak
Why did he say 5th amendment “privilege”? Is it not a right?
Oh that look on Marcia's face at 3:45 right before Mark Fuhrman wished to assert his 5th amendment privilege the first time.
I never noticed until recently, that OJ was wearing latex gloves before trying on the blood covered gloves found at the crime scene? What the heck? Of course the bloodied gloves are not going to fit? This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. Why didn’t the prosecution insist OJ try the bloody gloves on without a latex pair underneath? It’s not like OJ was trying on a total stranger’s pair of bloody gloves. They were OJ’s. What a total disgrace of a joke.
The judge was a joke
irony how OJ was the worst casted of the ensemble, while everyone else was literally perfect.
the officer used the fifth to not answer the questions had he answered he would have replied he would have lied
Reality better than fiction 😅
This FX show came out when I started high school 2017
It was only oj that didn't look the part . They could have put a bottle of orange juice to make amends to his role
RIP, OJ Simpson (1947-2024).
who‘s here after he took it to the grave?
This girl looks like Anna Kendrick as Alex Russo
I remember on The Wayans Show when Marlon acted as counsel and put on a single leather glove like this one. He was over the top exaggerated, even crazy as getting on top the table and squatting to force it on. Even after, Marlon looks at the jurors and litigants like he’s throwing his hands up in the fact it still was too small. I thought that was a pretty good comic sketch especially that the trial was still ongoing.
lame video
Don’t hate the player hate the game Cochran was wit the business 💯
Sometimes you CAN tell if a Man is black over the phone
We’re can I watch the full series
I've watched this countless times, and I always think about a comment I read on here once. Someone said that Hammond was embellishing with his reactions driving the F1 car. I wanna know if that person ever drove anything faster than a 97 VW Golf.
The prosecution asked the man on trial to try on the gloves. Should they have foreseen the outcome of that question? Of course. The prosecution also put a witness on stand who pled the 5th in response to questions that should have nullified reasonable doubt. Instead, the prosecution's witness just reinforced the defense' argument that their client had been elaborately framed. Maybe the prosecution had a case. But they did not present it well. Seeing other cases like, "When they see us", where 5 teenagers were wrongly convicted for rape and murder, one has to wonder at how lawyers make their cases, and how juries/judges should rule. This case seems to be material used in the Lincoln Lawyer season 2 (Netflix). The defendant was shown to have a bad relationship with the murder victim and a bloodied glove was found at her apartment. Also, a possible murder weapon, a hammer, was missing from her toolkit. But she was surprisingly innocent of the murder. And her lawyer was able to raise enough reasonable doubt in the mind of the jury to get their client a not-guilty verdict. Beyond how things appear, a lawyer cannot assume, "this is case closed", and put in minimal effort at arguing their point, a mistake the prosecution did repeatedly in the OJ case.
OJ actually got away with this because he was black and people still have the audacity to say that America is racist against black people all these years later.
Wrong cast he looks like oj now not back in the days
Súper
The comedy here. The glove fitting was irrelevant. It could simply have been a similar sized person whom commited the crime. Focusing on that was a mistake.
There may not be a single "look" to a murderer, but there are similar personality traits and some physical traits. They have NPD (Cluster B Disorders) and you can learn to recognize the personality and physical traits of NPD after studying it.
If he killed them why the gloves didn't fit?
NAAAAAH YOU MEAN IF IT DOESNT FIT YOU MUST COMMIT, IS WHAT OJ'S DEMON TOLD EM
Judge 👨🏼⚖️ 🤡
Only a fool would believe he never killed these people , unfortunately america has a lot of fools
What a clusterfuck of a trial it was. 🤣
Chris Darden was a crybaby
Curious in real life darden states @ 1:25 " they chuckle now but they don't know what I know" . To me this suggests that the DA office held back evidence. Possibly DNA blood evidence of a second assailant. The DNA under Nicole's fingernails did not match oj but a 4th person as well as blood on Ron Goldman that did not belong to oj. This theory of oj and an assailant has been around since the beginning. Chris Todd, investigator identifies by name the second assailant and it is not oj son but a white male . The DA knew there was a second assailant but never presented the DNA evidence.
This makes me think how it would be when they do it to Trump to and they will say how great Trump is that he did everything for the country then why did you down play the virus that a lot of people died because of you and how come you had the capital building and the police attack to break the law just because you did not get your way to be the winner and you talk to attack and make fun of people and get your sirporters to hate people and attack people and you have attack tv reports and women and black people that is not making America great again and you think you are better than any one else in the world and the United States that the rest of us are stupid and you laugh at us like it is a joke and presidents do not do that And say that to.your sirporters because they would stop sirport you any more has long has you do not do it to them a great president would never be that way in all of history of presidents
That was amazing, great job, and thank you for this because I came here to find out how language shapes our reality. I wanted some information to write my college short essay. Thank you again.
FUCK you Agent Peña , bum ass shoulda left them folks alone & Pablo .
He didn't deserve any Oscar. It's so bad. He has his fingers held way out and webbe d look at that thumb. Still there s a little bit of evidence blaming this serial killer guy forn the south too. Idk. I always thought it was OJ though. . Even if it were that serial killer guy, OJ earned this with all his beatings. So whatever.
1:50 'statement whether somebody's sound black or white is racist !' - I'm white male and in real life lot of black male makes fun of my usual voice. So, I think they would disagree with this statement. And also it's not racism, it's fun. Lot of fun [not to me though].
